Chasing the Unknown!
In STEM, curiosity and the courage to step into uncertainty often drive the most groundbreaking achievements in aviation and space exploration. From the Wright brothers’ daring flight at Kitty Hawk in 1903, an experiment that defied prevailing assumptions, to the Apollo missions that carried humanity across a quarter million miles to the Moon, progress has always begun with a question and a risk. Today, the upcoming Artemis missions build on that legacy, aiming to return humans to the lunar surface, establish a sustained presence, and chart pathways to Mars—pushing the boundaries of what we know and who we can become.
These stories highlight that while precision and expertise matter, it is fearless curiosity, resilience, and the drive to explore the unknown that unlock new horizons.
Students are encouraged to tie in personal or historical experiences related to the 2025 – 2026 Drive to Fly theme: Chasing the Unknown. Submissions will be judged based on creativity, technical ability, adherence to the theme, and a statement corresponding to the art piece.
